Get Involved

Central City Lutheran Mission will again apply for a permit to provide housing for homeless men. Our shelter is open from November 15 – April 30. With no monies available from the city to assist us in this project, we are turning to you as members of communities of faith for support. Last year we served 381 unduplicated men, for a total of 7,527 bed nights! Serving breakfast and dinner, we served 15,040 meals. We need your help. Can you help us provide:

• blankets
• towels
• toothpaste
• deodorant
• small bottles of shampoo
• small bars of soap
• toothbrushes
• foot powder and anti-fungal cream
• board games: chess, checkers, cards

We also need funds. Our utility bills are very high during the winter months as we heat the entire sanctuary 7 nights a week. They average about $4,500 per month! Any funds to help offset these expenses will be greatly appreciated.

We serve a hot meal every night, and a hot meal every morning. Any donations of food or cash to assist, will be greatly appreciated!

Groups are welcome to come and visit the sanctuary between 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM, Monday – Fridays. Come play checkers, chess, cards, watch a movie, cook a pot of soup or just talk. Men have stories that they need to share. They need gentle ears to listen.

Thanks for your support and prayers.

Away from the cold

"I tell my ex-wife and my (adult) daughters that I'm renting a room," Pierce said. "I can't bring myself to admit
that I'm in this situation."
